The 2017 edition of the George Enescu International Festival, one of the most important Festivals in Europe, will take place between the 3rd and 24th of September 2017. The Festival is organized under the Patronage of the Romanian President. The Honorary Chairman of the Festival is Maestro Zubin Mehta. The Artistic Director is Maestro Vladimir Jurowski.
For the first time organized within the ”Music of the 21st Century” Series of the “George Enescu” International Festival, the International Forum of Composers is an initiative that aims to bring together renowned musicians, famous composers and also young composers, but also the general audience interested in the current musical phenomenon manifested in the international cultural space.
Great personalities such as Magnus Lindberg, Sir James MacMillan, Jorg Widmann, Detlef Glanert, Vladimir Cosma, Thomas Larcher, and Rodion Shchedrin and many others, will share their musical creed, and also express their views within 6 major events (Ars Poetica lectures, debates, round tables) focused on topics related to patterns and trends on contemporary music and their interconnection with everyday life as individuals or society.
The program of the International Forum of Composers is dedicated to the young musicians around the world, laureats of international composition competitions, students and graduates in music and mathematics universities, with the purpose of opening for them a perspective towards the compositional universe described by the personalities invited in the Festival that wears the name of the most important Romanian musician – George Enescu.
The “George Enescu” International Festival offers a number of 20 grants for each weekend session within the series and they will be offered in the priority of registration. The grant includes free accommodation for 4 (four) days and free access to all the events of the festival scheduled within those days. The age limit for grants is 35.
The participation is based exclusively on a preliminary registration.
